a homeowner the Federal Tax Credit now allows you to claim 30% of the full purchase and installation price up to a maximum of $1500 if you install a qualifying heating and cooling unit.
In order for you and your family to take advantage of this "one-time" Federal Tax Credit, Florida homeowners in Florida must install a qualifying unit in 2009 or 2010, and claim it on their 2009 or 2010 Federal income tax forms. The maximum amount Florida homeowners may claim as a taxpayer for all qualifying energy efficient home improvements which includes the purchase and installation is $1,500 over the lifetime of the credit (2009-2010).

Progress Energy: Duct Repair / Replacement - Up to $150
Incentive requirements: 1. Applicable to residential improvement projects. 2. Must have an existing central air conditioning system and must be 5.5 tons or less (66,000 BTUs). 3. Ducts must be sealed with mastic and Underwriters Laboratory (UL) approved duct tape.

Heat Pump – SEER 14 = $100/SEER 15 = $200/SEER 16+ = $300
Older central air conditioner units can be very costly to operate and maintain. New units are more efficient and use less energy while lowering your electric bill. Annual energy savings for a 15 Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating (SEER) or greater unit could be up to 30 percent when compared to a 12 SEER unit.
